Performances of ‘Hillary and Clinton’ play for Broadway premiere begin in the US with Laurie Metcalf starring as Hillary alongside John Lithgow as Bill.
The new play written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Joe Mantello began previews in the John Golden Theatre on March 16.
The new Broadway production follows former First Lady Hillary Clinton (Metcalf) in early 2008. ‘Hillary and Clinton’ highlights the role of political marriage and gender roles in the US.
The play is described as “profound and timely look at an American dynasty in crisis,” offering a behind-the-scenes look at a former First Lady Hillary.
Lithgow has been nominated for six Tony awards, winning two. Laurie Metcalf, born Laura Elizabeth Metcalf, is an American actress who won numerous acting awards and nominations. She has won three Primetime Emmy Awards and two Tony Awards, among other accolades.
